Diamond Grinding (DG) is a method that precisely cuts the surface of concrete pavements longitudinally using diamond blades. It restores road surface smoothness, reduces noise, and enhances skid resistance, greatly improving safety and driving comfort for road users.

HEXACON owns 3 units of the PC-6000 (685HP), the highest-specification diamond grinding equipment in the country, and has accumulated extensive DG construction experience on major expressways nationwide.

Principles and construction method of diamond grinding

Surface Micro-texture Formation Cutting

Diamond grinding rotates a cutting head densely fitted with diamond blades to finely cut the concrete surface longitudinally (in the direction of vehicle travel).

The cut surface forms a uniform longitudinal texture, providing the following benefits:

  • Noise reduction through air discharge paths between the surface and tires
  • Hydroplaning prevention through rainwater drainage via longitudinal grooves
  • Enhanced skid resistance through uniform surface texture
  • Smoothness recovery through removal of surface irregularities and step differences
